When Elephants Fly
by Nancy Richardson Fischer

book cover

This is a amazing book, it has easily become one of my favorites! It's about a girl, Lily, who is trying to avoid getting schizophrenia (because her mom had it she's high risk). That plan quickly goes away when she meets a baby elephant named Swifty. She risks her life for Swifty, and ends up kidnapping her in order to insure she has a happy, healthy life away form the circus she was currently in. This is such a sweet book. It was one of those books where you wanted to keep turning the pages and keep reading because you really wanted to see what happened.

5 stars! This book takes place in 1965 and is about a African-American girl and how she is treated because of that. It's a quick read that is sad, really happy, and dramatic at times. I would definately recommend this to anyone!

A surprisingly good book! In the first few pages I wasn't that sure if I should keep reading, but I'm glad I did. Hope Was Here is about a girl (Hope) who's a waitress and moves with her aunt/mother (her aunt takes care of her and acts like a mother) to a diner in Wisconsin. There she helps the owner of the diner (G.T.) to run for mayor, even though her has cancer....An amazing book that I highly recommend.

I am in love with this book. Not only is it interesting and captivating, but it also is very educational in terms of World War 2. The book starts off with Hanneke Baker, whos boyfriend died serving front lines as a soldier. Since then, she has been working in the Black Market, selling illegal goods such as sugar, bread, coffee, and tea by using dead people's rations & and motivated by the drive for money that keeps her family stable. Hanneke is very good at finding things. But when Mrs. Janssen, one of Hanneke's clients, asks her to find a Jewish girl she has been hiding in her house who recently went missing, Hanneke is put on an emotional rollercoaster. Throughout the book, she discovers her own self-worth, and for the first time, allows herself to grieve since the loss of Bas. And all along, Hanneke learns some very shocking truths about the girl Mrs. Janssen had been hiding. This book is excellent and I would highly recommend it!

This is a good book, part of the "Bibliophile Mystery" series. It's about a woman named Brooklyn Wainwright, who restores books as a profession, and is an amateur detective as a hobby. It's not her fault she keeps finding bodies, right? Each mystery keeps you on your toes, and you don't want to put it down until everything comes together at the end.

This is a cute little book about a relationship between two sisters. In the book, Maxey, the older sister, took money from the school treasurey which sends the main character Effie into a full panic trying to get it back. This is a good little book.

Silhouetted By The Blue is a great book. The main character Serena has to take care of herself and her younger brother because her father is depressed and he doesn't do anything. Then she gets the lead in her school play. Everything becomes too much for Serena, so she has to figure out how to "fix" her father. It's a wonderful book that I recommend.
